Full Description

Multi-period site, Mesolithic to Medieval.
Five pottery kilns, kiln waste pits, ditches, potters hut. Distinctive "West Stow" ware with stamped ornament; copies of Samian forms; flagons, etc. Date range AD 80 - 150 (S1).
Some excavations by Basil Brown 1941 and 1947 (S2).
An amount of Rom and late Rom material including coins, pottery, finger rings, bracelets, brooches, spoons, pins, toilet implements, a stylus, a bronze balance beam and a miniature axe occurred in Sax contexts despite no evidence of late Rom presence on the site.
