Full Description

Roman road (part of), Margary 34a (S1). Continues NE to SW beyond TL 8887 4635, to Long Melford, unknown.
See Great Waldingfield 016.

From NRHE record:
A somewhat uncertain Roman road, based on several straight stretches of modern road in approximate alignment, particularly good between Long Melford and Barking Tye, pointing generally at the Roman settlement at Wixoe on the west and Balyham (Roman Combretovium) on the east [see Associated Monument Records]. Margary seems to be the only firm advocate for this road, though the appearance of part of it on the 2nd edition Roman Britain map (1928) shows that the idea is not recent. [See OS Linear Archive for bibliography to 1973, and results of field investigations in 1950, 1972, 1980].
