Full Description
Rom circular clamp kiln, first recorded by Basil Brown in 1953 after being told of black earth and pottery by A T Calton and K Landymore. Area being drained in 1957 and excavation revealed kiln, pottery including wasters, an almost complete red pot - broken by tractor, and a spindle whorl. Pottery recorded at IPSMG as late C1 with Belgic influence. Two sherds held at SAU store - not C1 (S1)(S2).
IPSMG gives grid reference TM 0149 7266 (S3).
No trace, and no further finds but Calton verified the siting on the Antiquity Model. S4)
