Monument record WSF 036 - Petts/Pits Hill (IA)

Two fragments of biscuit coloured IA Belgic pottery and possible hut sites with at least one hearth. Much black earth, large stones, puddled clay but few artefacts, also included possible LSax/EMed pottery and details of excavation are unclear. Antler bone (cut), animal bones and worked flint scrapers also found and fragments of shelly pottery made of black paste, of which sketches are available, but these are not dateable - Basil Brown thought possibly Neo. Many of the artefacts were not found in situ as they had been disturbed by the excavator digging a pipeline trench on the field in December 1951 (S1).
