Full Description

Ring ditch, circa 30m diameter. Within rectilinear field system, STU 005 (S1).
The remains of a possible Bronze Age round barrow are visible as the cropmark of a ring ditch on aerial photographs, centred on TM 15903624 to the south-east of Alton Hall Farm in Holbrook parish (possibly formerly in Stutton). The ring ditch encloses an area of 19m in diameter and sits on a plateau above Alton Water. The ring ditch may be the plough-levelled remains of a Bronze Age round barrow or the site of a Later Prehistoric or Roman round house, but its size suggests that the first interpretation is more likely.
