Full Description

Ring ditch, circa 10m diameter. Within SLY 044 area of rectilinear field boundaries and trackways. One trackway traverses NE edge (S1).
A sub-circular feature is visible on aerial photographs as a cropmark, centred on circa TM23913486. This feature has been interpreted above as a ring ditch. However, a feature resembling a ring ditch is only visible in this location on photograph S1, and not on any other available photographs. It must be considered that photograph S1 is an oblique aerial photograph, and a cropmark that appears circular from an oblique angle will probably not appear circular from a vertical perspective. In addition, a cropmark that is almost certainly the same feature is visible on S2, from a slightly less oblique view, as an irregular ovoid cropmark. It is probable that this feature is geological in nature and not an archaeological feature.
