Full Description
Dec 1970: Two ditches found in section of ditch cut beside new A140 road straightening scheme. Sections and finds recorded by Roy Colchester. First 35yds from existing ditch to S, V shaped with flat bottom, 5ft deep, 15ft wide at top, no finds. Second, shallow U shaped, 21ins deep, 4ft wide at top, containing signs of burnt earth and charcoal and a few Med sherds (S3). 1972: fieldwalking survey by R Colchester located possible settlement site. Finds included 1 rim(?) sherd C13/C14, 9 glazed rims C14, 126 body sherds and 1 lava quern fragment (S1)(S2).
