Full Description
Parish church of St Mary, Rickinghall Inferior, Med with round tower having Saxon/Norman base. S porch had parvise or priest's room added above it in C15. Church lies alongside line of Roman road running through the parish and to the N of the church, the stream running towards Fen Lane is known as the Swimming Ditch. Three heads carved on columns in the church are said to represent a King, Queen and Churchman and Basil Brown believed them to be Edward II, Queen Isabella and the Abbot of Bury St Edmunds (S1).
