Full Description

Moat, unoccupied, small, rectangular, next to site of St Nicholas, South Elmham Church. Marked on 1:10560 map, undated.

1992: A documentary evaluation was undertaken of this site and noted that that the moated ste had water filled ditches on the north and west sides and parts of the east and south sides. The southeast corner appeared to be unenclosed. The evaluation concluded that the site likely contains archaeological evidence for occupation in the medieval and post medieval periods and it's strong association with the adjacent site of the church of St Nicholas is notable and likely indicates a close relationship between the church and moated site at its initial construction. (S2)

March 1998: Scheduled (along with SEN 008) - details in (S3).
