Full Description

Exceptional barbed (and tanged) flint arrowhead marked as found at (see 'Not to be published on web' tab for finder/s and/or findspot/s) on BSEMH map, although annotated beside `3 barbed flint arrowheads (see 'Not to be published on web' tab for finder/s and/or findspot/s)' (S3). A second map records `Bronze Age flint arrowheads, 1955, (see 'Not to be published on web' tab for finder/s and/or findspot/s)' (S2) but marks the findspot at (see 'Not to be published on web' tab for finder/s and/or findspot/s)(see MNL 230). OS records cite (see 'Not to be published on web' tab for finder/s and/or findspot/s) for barbed and tanged arrowheads although also record Lady Briscoe as giving these arrowheads the same location as a bronze palstave (MNL 051) at (see 'Not to be published on web' tab for finder/s and/or findspot/s)(S1). This findspot for the palstave is certainly incorrect (see MNL 051).
It appears some confusion exists over these 3 arrowheads, mapping (S3) suggests one at least of these, an exceptional example, was found at (see 'Not to be published on web' tab for finder/s and/or findspot/s). The (see 'Not to be published on web' tab for finder/s and/or findspot/s) findspot is also used for `three barbed flint arrowheads, one very fine, 2 inches long, with re-entrant edges' (S4), the latter of which is clearly this same specimen.
1965-1987: Scatter of worked & burnt flint found fieldwalking in S corner of field (scatter F21b) by Colin Pendleton & Patrick Norman. Finds include triangular arrowhead (catalogue number A95).
