Full Description
Bronze pegged spearhead. Moulded blade decorated with hatched triangles defined at base of blade with three parallel grooves. Four parallel grooved bands between rivet holes and blade base. Beneath rivet holes lozenges filled with pontille decoration between grooved bands. Some corrosion. 15.5 cms long. Found by (see 'Not to be published on web' tab for finder/s and/or findspot/s) in 1948 on ploughed field surface. Findspot (see 'Not to be published on web' tab for finder/s and/or findspot/s) by Briscoe (S2). A late EBA form, probably of Irish manufacture or derivation (S3). Contemporary with Arreton tradition. Formerly collection of (see 'Not to be published on web' tab for finder/s and/or findspot/s), then MIHLM (SF.B.7), stolen in 1979 (S1).
