Full Description
Rom pewter dish stated to have been found in bank of River Deben 1947 by Mr Dickerson. The dish was circa 13 inches in diameter with a beaded rim and foot ring and had been flattened out. Basil brown visited site in June 1947 and thought the vessel may have been washed downstream from a site higher up the river, but finder says "bank of river". The tile fragments mentioned on IPSMG card 1949-61 cannot be confirmed as having come from the river and Brown does not mention them. Flanged tile was found in farmhouse garden later and there may be confusion with this find, WNT 006 (S1)(S2)(S3). Sketch in archive gives site of find.
