Summary

1924: Rom sherds (also IA?), blown glass, animal bones and a bronze strip were found by C S Leaf & T C Lethbridge around and to the N of Caudle Head (S1)(S2)(R3).

Full Description

1924: Rom sherds (also IA?), blown glass, animal bones and a bronze strip were found by C S Leaf & T C Lethbridge around and to the N of Caudle Head (S1)(S2)(R3).
1943: Traces of palisading and spindle-whorls, burials, coins and pottery were found during airfield excavations at TL 733 808 (S1)(R1). Also querns (R2). Area marked as centreing at TL 7330 8093 on OS map (S3). 1951: Further finds of sherds & coin of Aurelian (AD 270-275) by workmen, reported 1951 (R1).
