Full Description
Socketed axe decorated with three beaded ribs terminating in pellets and roundels separated by two plain ribs terminating in pellets. Collar band decorated with diagonal lines. Two (S1) or three (S2) holes drilled in socket collar. Surface cleaned and slightly pocked. Length 12.4 cms, weight 409.21 gms (S1)(S4).
Found `in fens between Lakenheath and Mildenhall' (S3) about 1848-1850 `about 6 feet below the surface' (S2). Suggests probably found in area of Undley or the Delph, Beck Row (see MNL 80 & MNL 228 for similar axes from same area). Also recorded in (S5-S9).
