Full Description

Rectilinear field system & ? enclosures SE of & NS of trackways W of Valley Farm (S1).

May 2014. Lothingland, Lowestoft and North Suffolk Coast and Heaths National Mapping Programme.
Cropmarks of a rectilinear field system and possible enclosures and trackways are visible on aerial photographs (S2-S7) to the west of Valley Farm, Frostenden.
They may be related to the field system and enclosures identified to the south (SHER FOS 035). It is also possible that at least some of the features may relate to post medieval drainage ditches.
Two ring ditches are visible within the area (SHER FOS 036 and FOS 037), but since there are a great deal of geological marks across the area it was difficult to be certain of the extent of the archaeological features. The rectification of some of the photographs was also imperfect due to poor control points.
