Full Description

Field systems, possible deserted village enclosed by PMed park (S1). Includes SW-NE trackway/s (S2).
Park was probably a deer park at first, rather than a landscape park. Built between 1750-1780. Much of original part shown as treed. Network of enclosed fields. Park proper divided into many large compartments, with external pale having smaller enclosures and normal agricultural land to the north. By 1840 park had the appearance of a classic landscape park.

May 2014. Lothingland, Lowestoft and North Suffolk Coast and Heaths National Mapping Programme.
Medieval to post medieval field systems, and possible deserted village, are visible as earthworks on aerial photographs (S1-S6) enclosed by the post medieval Benacre park (SHER BNC 020). Includes several possible trackways, and a possible area of ridge and furrow within fields. It is possible that a small section of these earthworks still survives on the latest available Google Earth photography (S6), and this site would perhaps warrant further fieldwork/site survey.
