Full Description
June 2014. Lothingland, Lowestoft and North Suffolk Coast and Heaths National Mapping Programme.
Undated fragmentary linear ditches are visible as grassmarks on aerial photographs (S1), on land to the north of Churchfarm Marshes, Kessingland.
They are fragmentary and only visible on one set of photographs, and have therefore been recorded with a note of caution. It is possible that they relate to post medieval drainage ditches. However, it is also possible that they represent part of former field boundaries or enclosures, and the archaeological features extend further than those that are mapped.
E. Ford (Norfolk Historic Environment Service), 12th June 2014.
March 2023. Assessment of the Character and Significance of East Anglian Field Systems project.
The site described above was included in the dataset analysed for the Historic England-funded Assessment of East Anglian Field Systems project. See the project report (S2) for further details.
S. Tremlett (Norfolk County Council Environment Team), 21 March 2023.
