Full Description

May 2014. Lothingland, Lowestoft and North Suffolk Coast and Heaths National Mapping Programme.
The site of a pair of former World War Two pillboxes are visible on aerial photographs (S1-S2). These features formed part of the wider system of defences recorded under LWT 045. At least one of these pillboxes survives as late as 1989 (S2) and may still survive, assessment of more recent Google Earth imagery was not conclusive. These pillboxes appear to be polygonal type 22 structures, however the earlier aerial photographs indicate the former presence of an additional entrance structure (S3), although this may have been a temporary, possibly sandbagged, structure.
