Summary

A major World War Two defensive system, consisting of anti-tank ditch system, barbed wire obstructions, lines of anti-tank cubes and associated defences, including pillboxes, gun emplacements, slit trenches and weapons pits, running south from Oulton Broad Lowestoft to Pakefield, is visible on aerial photographs. This links up with the previously mapped section of defence at Pakfield (GSE 045) and forms part of a wider system of defences encircling Lowestoft (LWT 309) and running along this section of the East Coast from Corton to Pakefield.

Full Description

April 2003: An aerial photographic assessment idientified Second World War fetaures inlcuding a zig zag anti-tank cubes and these are posisbly related to 2 adjacent embanked structures. (S5)

May 2014. Lothingland, Lowestoft and North Suffolk Coast and Heaths National Mapping Programme.
A major World War Two defensive system, consisting of anti-tank ditch system, barbed wire obstructions, lines of anti-tank cubes and associated defences, including pillboxes, gun emplacements, slit trenches and weapons pits, running south from Oulton Broad Lowestoft to Pakefield, is visible on aerial photographs (S1-S4). This links up with the previously mapped section of defence at Pakfield (GSE 045) and forms part of a wider system of defences encircling Lowestoft (LWT 309) and running along this section of the East Coast from Corton to Pakefield.
