Full Description
Located on S side of railway cutting at the Henley Road railway bridge, Castle Hill, Ipswich. Type 22 pillbox with 5 stepped embrasures and an L-shaped entrance porch/blast wall with a single pistol embrasure. [Mike Osborne gives the grid reference as TM 164470]. (S3)
A WWII pillbox along the railway line. The pillbox is clearly visible on 1946 and 1947 RAF photography, but is not visible on 2007 photography due to tree cover. The pillbox was approximately 75m east of the bridge. Helen Saunders (Essex County Council), April 2014. (S1-S2)
