Full Description

A WWII anti aircraft battery site. On RAF aerial photographs from March 1944 the air craft battery consists of 4 square emplacements set within earthen banks in a straight line, with some associated structures locate 40m to the west. However, USAF photography from May 1944 shows that the straight emplacement arrangement was replaced with 3 square/rectangular emplacements and a circular emplacement forming a semicircircle around a fifth emplacement, with a further smaller square structure 50m to the west. Helen Saunders (Essex County Council), April 2014. (S1-S3)

2009: An assessment of aerial photographs identified WW2 gun emplacements and associated structures of a heavy anti-aircraft battery. (S4)
