Full Description

Possible retaining wall for a quay, of unknown date, at Iken Cliff (TM 40175622). The feature is located on the intertidal mud c.4m in front of the current hightide mark and consists of an assemblage of probable timbers with a long front paralleling the riverfront and at least three perpendicular 'beams' extending back towards the shore. The feature is clearest on 1945 photography, but is still apparent in 1972, although less is visible. (S1-2)
