Full Description
World War II anti-tank obstacle, visible as an earthwork for c.2.5km from Hazlewood Marshes to The Fens (TM 44205748 to TM 45465935). The obstacle comprises a central ditch with banks on either side (the southern end, extending onto Hazlewood Marshes, only has a bank on the east side and utilizes drainage ditches), with crossing points at several places (besides the two roads out of Aldeburgh). The obstacle was in place by 1943 (S1) and was extant in 1945 (S2), but had been levelled by 1953 (S3).
South Warren, Aldeburgh. Irregular anti-tank ditch running some 2050 metres long between Hazlewood Marshes in the S and North Warren in the N, aligned approx. NE-SW. [Plotted from aerial photographs] (S4).
