Full Description
Two areas of trench systems, of World War I or II date, are visible at TM 521804 and TM 520805, northwest of Easton Wood. The first set comprises two lines of zigzag trenches with communicating trenches at each end, visible as earthworks (S1-2) whilst the second set comprises fragments of two lines of 'crenellated' trenches with zigzag commmunication trenches, visible as earthworks (S3) and cropmarks (S4). Whilst the trenches may be for practice purposes, they may equally have been dug to defend the coast in the event of an invasion.
Initially numbered as COV 029 during pilot survey of intertial area. Re-numbered Nov 2004
