A World War II strongpoint is visible in 1941 to the east of Easton Wood (at TM 522801). The site consists of a trench system connecting to a pillbox overlooking the beach, all within a barbed wire circuit (possibly doubled on the west side) with an entrance to the northwest, possibly with a guard post (S1). By the end of 1941, an irregular ditch has been dug across the site, leading to the cliff edge (S2). The site has since been eroded away.
