Full Description

A World War II strongpoint is visible from 1940 at the south end of Kessingland, around TM 535853. In 1940, the site consists of a large square pillbox and associated trench system, on the edge of the low cliff overlooking the beach (TM 53618537), within a barbed wire enclosure (S1). By 1941, the barbed wire enclosure has been expanded to the west and south (and is apparently a double line to the west), the original pillbox has gone and a new one (located just to the south) has been built and the trench system has also been expanded to the west and south (along the cliff edge) (S2-3).
