Full Description
A number of slit trenches, mostly zig-zag in form, are visible on aerial photographs of 1941 (S1, S2) on scrub land between Corton Road and Gunton Cliff road, around TM 548 950. The trenches vary in length from 10m to 25m and would appear to be either practice trenches or functional components of the coastal defences of this area. They do not appear on aerial photographs of 1940, and they have become overgrown by 1945. A square pillbox stands at TM54979511, close to one of the longer trenches.
