Full Description

A square pillbox, c 4m across, can be seen on Gunton Denes at TM54979553 on 1940 aerial photographs (S1). It is located very close to a trench, which is some 60m long. The trench may have been a practice trench or could have been a component of the coastal defences in this area and appears to have been extended between 1940 and 1941. It seems likely that the pillbox operated in conjunction with the trench. Both features are still discernible on 1945 aerial photos (S2).

Spotted on Google Earth (S3).
