Full Description

The tethering blocks of a barrage balloon site can be seen just to the north of Lowestoft Harbour on 1945 aerial photographs (S1). Just to the south of this barrage balloon site, there are three structures surrounded by barbed wire. The buildings do not appear on 1941 aerial photographs (S2), which suggests that they may be connected with wartime military activity in the area - possibly a military stronghold or storage area. Some parts of the barbed wire obstruction are visible on the earlier photographs, but the main part of it was erected after 1941.
