Monument record LWT 124 - Various World War II defensive features by Pakefield Cliffs.

Various features of World War II date are visible on aerial photographs from 1941 (S1). A length of defensive scaffolding, c 120m long, runs along the foot of Pakefield Cliffs. On the clifftop, various sections of barbed wire obstruction can be seen, while an existing building appears to have been used by the military, as there are trenches close by which appear to be associated with it, one of which has a pillbox adjacent to it. Also close to the building is a zig-zag earthwork, which would appear to represent a covered trench air raid shelter. In 1944 aerial photographs (S2), many of the features are still visible, although there are a number of small structures on the site of the air raid shelter. The trenches are less clear to see, and there are a few more sections of barbed wire.
