Full Description

A military strongpoint on the edge of Pakefield Cliffs can be seen on 1941 (S1) and 1944 (S2) aerial photographs. It consists of a number of sections of trench, a pillbox, possibly a covered trench shelter, and two features which may be gun emplacements. These are all surrounded by a single, and in some places double, barbed wire fence. Only the trenches are visible on aerial photographs from 1940 (S3). This site would have contributed to the World War II coastal defences in this area.
