Monument record KSS 052 - World War II air raid shelters or weapons pits.

A number of entranceways are visible in an area of scrubland north of Kessingland, close to the cliffs, on 1944 aerial photographs (S1). There do not appear to be any other associated earhtworks in the area, but the features definiteky appear to be giving access to something underground, possibly a shelter. Alternatively, the features could be small slit trenches or weapons pits for practice or even as part of the coastal defences in this area. The scale of the photograph does not really allow a more definite interpretation. The features do not appear on earlier photographs.
