Full Description
A military feature of World War II date, constructed some time after July 1940, can be seen on photographs from 1945. It consists of a stretch of barbed wire enclosing a corner of a field. There are what appear to be short ditches in the corner of the field and at the opposite side of the road is a circular earthwork feature, which could possibly be a single gun emplacement. In the field at the north side of the road there is a mark in the vegetation where another stretch of barbed wire obstruction has already been removed. (S1)
The position of this feature on the road that leads to the coastal gun battery (BAW 050) suggests that it may have been a road block of some sort.
All traces of the features have disappeared by 1948.
