Full Description

Lengths of barbed wire obstruction of World War II date can be seen on photographs from 1940 onwards. The only defences in place in 1940 are those near to the complex of military buildings related to the Brackenbury Battery (FEX 088). By 1944 the obstructions form a belt around the north side of the battery, which runs inland and then links back into the coastal defences. (S1) (S2) (S3)
The barbed wire obstructions were removed by October 1945.
