Full Description
An L-shaped stretch of sea bank, c 1km long, is visible as an earthwork on aerial photographs from 1945 (S1), running along the eastern edge of Salt Creek, to the south of Southwold. It is also depicted on the OS 25" 1st Ed county series map of c1884, which suggests a post-medieval date for this feature. This bank was one of many in this area, which acted as flood defences. The bank is still visible today, although somewhat eroded in places.
