Full Description

A section of barbed wire obstruction, c 500m long, is visible as a structure on an aerial photograph from 1943 (S1) on the beach to the south of Southwold. There also appears to be a small section of minefield at a gap in the barbed wire, towards the southern end of the features. This would have formed part of the World War II beach defences in this area and may well be associated with other similar features in this area. This particular section of the defences can also be seen faintly on aerial photographs from 1941 (S2), but it is no longer visible by October 1945.
