Full Description

A section of sea bank, c 270m long, can be seen as an earthwork between TM47746760 & TM47786733 close to the beach to the north-east of Minsmere bird reserve on 1945 aerial photographs (S1). This feature is a part of the flood defences in this area, and appears to have been part of a much longer bank which has been breached by the sea. The breach can be seen at the southern end of this section of bank. It is difficult to be sure of a date for this feature, but it is quite possible that it dates from the post-medieval period, as many such flood banks in this area are of a similar date. The bank can also be seen on aerial photographs from 1973(S2), although it appears to have been consolidated and the breach repaired by this date.
