Full Description

A section of sea bank c680m long runs N-S between TM47776692 & TM47736624 just above the beach to the east of Minsmere nature reserve. The bank can be seen as an earthwork on 1945 aerial photographs (S1). The feature is likely to be part of the flood defences in this area, and it may well date to the Post Medieval period. This date is supported by the fact that the bank appears on the OS County 1st series map of c1884 in this location. The bank may be the southern part of a longer bank, the northern part of which may be feature WLN 040, as there is a small breach between these two sections of bank.
