Full Description
An anti-tank ditch can be seen as an earthwork running for c1.8km between TM47056596 & TM47386459, to the north of Goose Hill, on 1941 aerial photographs (S1). The obstacle has been created by widening and deepening a pre-existing watercourse, which has resulted in the spoil being heaped up alongside the channels, thus creating the earthwork banks which are visible on the aerial phorographs. The feature is also clearly visible on 1943 aerial photographs (S2), but by 1945 (S3), the spoil banks are less clear and have weathered away somewhat. The anti-tank ditch would have formed a component of the World War II defences in this area.
The waterfilled ditch is still extant in 2006, with low spread bank? (S4)
