Full Description

A group of roughly rectangular, possibly man-made, pits, centred on TM 29104288, can be seen adjoining a channel in the salt-marsh at the edge of the Deben Estuary on photographs taken from the 1940s onwards. The features are small, the largest pit being only 6m in length, but if they are man-made features they may represent the remains of a small-scale shellfish production site or of some type of extractive process. (S1) (S2) (S3)
Other pits in the area may also be man-made features.
