Full Description

The possible remains of a Post Medieval brickworks can be seen as earthworks, centred on TM 29104142, on aerial photographs. Photographs from 1945 (S1) show a square levelled area centred on TM 29094142, cut into the gentle slope, and photographs from 1965 (S2) show a number of irregular mounds centred on TM 29104143. The Ordnance Survey 25" 1st Edition map of circa 1884 (S3) shows a brickworks on this site and it is reasonable to identify the earthwork remains with the foundations of the brickworks although the earthworks are not very coherent. It must be noted however that a new drain, visible on the 1965 photographs (S2), may account for some of the earthwork mounds.
See KIR 024 for the landing pier that was probably associated with this site.
