Full Description
Two Post Medieval sand and gravel pits, centred on TM 29613937 and TM 29643930, can be seen as earthworks on aerial photographs taken from the 1940s onwards. The larger, northern, pit is marked as a 'crag pit' on the Ordnance Survey 1st Edition 25" map of circa 1884 (S1) and has increased in size and is marked as 'old crag pit' by circa 1904 (S2)' where as the smaller, southern pit is not marked on either map and therefore may be older than the northern one. (S3) (S4)
See FLK 006 for the cropmarks also located in this field.
