Full Description
Pits of unknown date and function are visible as earthworks, centred on TM 28334649, on aerial photographs taken in 1945. The pits are cut into the edge of the drainage channel to the east of the floodbank near Mathersgate Quay. The pits are irregular and no bigger than roughly 5m by 4m. The pits appear to be three sided suggesting they are extraction pits rather than pits that were designed to contain water. (S1)
