Full Description
A Post Medieval building platform is visible as a cropmark and earthwork on aerial photographs, centred on TM25503595. The platform is defined by a cropmark of a rectangular ditch, roughly 17m by 20m in size. This appears to surround a slightly raised area, which may have elevated a structure above the surrounding land, at an unknown date. The cropmark is visible only on photographs from 1944 and 1951, and appears to be laid out along the same orientation as the drainage ditch visible immediately to the north (S1, S2). The feature is not visible on later photographs, but the drainage ditches in this area have undergone major recutting since the 1970s, and this may have affected the cropmark visibility in the area. There is no structure marked for this location on the 1st or 2nd Edition Ordnance Survey maps (S3. S4), but the association with the drainage ditch suggests a Post Medieval date for the platform is probable.
