Full Description

A World War II emplacement is visible on aerial photographs from 1944 to 1947, as a structure and earthwork centred on TM24633445. The emplacement is composed of a curvilinear barbed wire obstruction roughly 80m in length, enclosing an earthwork mound approximately 22m in diameter, into which a 33m long 'S' shaped slit trench has been cut. This emplacement appears to be located to provide an additional defensive element to augment the barbed wire obstruction immediately to the north (SLY 072). By 1948, all barbed wire has been removed and the earthworks have been completely ploughed out. (S1-S3).
