Full Description
A World War II pillbox is visible at TM 29055016, perched on the flood bank at the north side of the Deben, close to Wilford Bridge. The pillbox is a Type 22 hexagonal pillbox and a blast wall indicates that the entrance was on its north-west side. The pillbox was probably strategically located in order to defend Wilford Bridge, the first crossing point on the River Deben, from enemy attack during World War II.
