Full Description

A Post Medieval sea bank is visible as an earthwork on aerial photographs taken in 1945, on the western side of the Deben just to the north of Waldringfield. The bank is roughly 0.9 km in length and runs southwards from just north of Waldringfield, at TM 28534468, to TM 28374547. (S1) A bank is depicted in this position on both the 1st and 2nd Edition Ordnance Survey 25" maps of circa 1884 and 1904. It is therefore likely that the flood defence is of Post Medieval or earlier date. (S2) (S3)
