Full Description
A World War II pillbox is visible as a structure on aerial photographs, centred on TM47506324. It appears to be a type 26 with an external blast wall. It is located on the high ground overlooking the beach, protected on the seaward side by the coastal anti-invasion defences, of which it forms a component (see LCS 119 and LCS 127). The pillbox is first visible on aerial photographs from 1941, when it appears to be disguised with vegetation (S1). It is clearly visible on photographs of 1946 (S2), but has been removed by 1952 (S3).
