Full Description
A World War II strongpoint is visible as structures and earthworks on aerial photographs, centred on TM47586180. Due to the quality of the prints available it is difficult to be certain, but a pillbox was probably in this location in July 1940 (S1). By December 1941 the pillbox is flanked by two slit trenches, it has been disguised and a 'D' shaped of barbed wire enclosure protects it from attack from the beach (S2). This strongpoint is one component in the anti-invasion coastal defences that covered much of the Suffolk coastline during World War II.
