Full Description
A slit trench of World War II date is visible as an earthwork on aerial photographs from 1941 and 1942, centred on TM47185973. The trench is circa 1.5m wide and nearly 8m in length, running from TM47185972 to TM47185973. In 1941 photography there appears to be a low bank on the western side of the ditch, although this is probably simply spoil rather than a defensive feature, and is not visible in the 1942 photos. It is situated in an area of land that is undeveloped during the war, adjacent to a road called 'The Sanctuary'. (S1-S2).
